Program & Events Internship

What to expect:

  • Paid internship  |  28-38 hours per week

  • April/May 2025 – September 2025

  • Located in-person at Farmamerica (outside Waseca, MN)

  • Work with youth, adults, and farm animals

  • Collaborate with the Farmamerica leadership team

  • Work week: Tuesdays – Fridays, typically 9am – 4pm, some evenings and weekends

  • Wage: $15/hour

Who we’re looking for:

  • Current college students or adults looking for additional, part-time summer income

  • Ambitious communicators and educators who enjoy being outdoors, working with others, story-telling, and collaborating in an office setting

  • Action-oriented collaborators ready to engage with youth and adults

What you’ll do:

Lead Programs and Experiences

  • Implement agricultural education programs for a variety of age groups (PreK to high school)

  • Be knowledgeable about all of the historic farm sites at Farmamerica and be able to answer basic questions about today’s farming practices. (Farmamerica provides talking points and scripts)

  • Be a tour guide of historic farm sites

  • Lead and manage small groups of youth through hands-on experiences

  • Collaborate with team members to promote programs and experiences

Assist with Events

  • Be present at Farmamerica events, including day camps, daily Kids Club, family events, farm-to-fork experiences, and more

  • Work alongside a team of professionals to develop learning experiences

Care for Livestock

  • As needed, feed farm animals and clean livestock pens

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Career interest in youth education, communications, event management, or agriculture

  • Proven ability to manage multiple activities at once

  • Proven experience & ability to relate to & collaborate with people from a range of backgrounds & experiences

  • Ability to memorize talking points

  • Ambassador for Farmamerica and the evolution of agriculture

  • Growth mindset

  • Proven use of effective interpersonal, communication & relationship skills

  • Team-first, “Pitch-in” attitude

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving approach

  • General understanding of Microsoft software and Canva, preferred

Livestock Care & Site Assistant Internship

What to expect:

  • Paid internship  |  20-25 hours per week

  • April/May 2025 – September 2025

  • Located in-person at Farmamerica (outside Waseca, MN)

  • Work with farm animals, occasionally interact with visitors

  • Collaborate with the Farmamerica team

  • Work week: Daily, some evenings and weekends

  • Wage: $15/hour

Who we’re looking for:

  • Current college students or adults looking for additional, part-time summer income

  • Ambitious individuals who are passionate about caring for and working with farm animals

  • Someone comfortable with physical outdoor labor with a strong work ethic

  • Someone who enjoys engaging with the public, particularly young people, to share knowledge about farm life and livestock.

What you’ll do:

This role involves a mix of direct animal care, facility maintenance, and educational outreach.

Livestock Care

  • Feed and monitor Farmamerica's animals at least twice per day, tracking their health and eating habits.

Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Maintain clean livestock pens and barns at our farm site, at least twice per week.

Garden & Site Maintenance

  • Maintain weed-free gardens and assist the Site Manager with outdoor projects, including brush removal and small repairs.

Educational & Public Engagement

  • As requested, provide livestock education to young people during day camps and family events.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Career interest in agriculture or livestock care

  • Experience or ability to learn daily feeding and comprehensive care for farm animals

  • Proven ability to follow instructions

  • Ability to perform or learn general site maintenance

  • Proven experience & ability to relate to & collaborate with people from a range of backgrounds & experiences

  • Ambassador for Farmamerica and the evolution of agriculture

  • Growth mindset

  • Proven use of effective interpersonal, communication & relationship skills

  • Team-first, “Pitch-in” attitude
